PROPHET AYYUB
Allah says in the quran in surah saad verses 41 to 44:
(…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..-)
“And remember our servant ayyub when he cried to his lord, “surely Satan has tout each me with toil and chastisement. “ (We said 🙂 “Stamp the ground with your foot, this is a cool washing-place, and a drink.” And we bestowed on him his household and along with them the like of them, as a mercy from us, and a remember acne to men of understanding. “And take in your hand a bundled of twigs. “ and, strike with it (your wife) and break not your oath,” surely we found him persevering. An excellent servant! Surely he was ever turning. To (us)”
Once, the devil had heard the angels speak of sayyidina ayyub (……………………….) worship and devotion to allah. He was constantly engaged in worship and expressing gratitude to allah for his blessing. The devil did not like that and decided to misguide sayyidina ayyub (………………….) he began to tempt him but nothing could penetrate sayyidina ayyub’s(……………………)heart, for, his ears and heart were sealed to such pollution. He was one of the chosen and sincere slaves of allah to whom the devil had no access.
The devil then curbed his arrogance and approached allah to whom he pleaded, “o allah, your slave sayyidina ayyub (………………………) worships you only because of the bounties you have bestowed on him he is not sincere and does not seek to please you so, withdraw the blessings and you will see how he turns away from you.” Allah the exalted, said, “o accursed devil, sayyidina ayyub (……………………) is sincere to me his worship is bereft of worldly love and is free of greed. He is a bright lamp of faith and holds a high position in patience, perseverance and conviction. Go, I permit you to take away his wealth from him and see how he behaves.”
The devil got his assistants to deprave sayyidina ayyub (……………….)of all his wealth and possession then he came to him as a wise old man and said, “the fire had devoured all you [property and your lord has forsaken you. Why then you continue to remember him?” the devil had thought that sayyidina ayyub (…………………..) would waver on hearing him. But, he said, firm in his conviction that allah had not deserted him, “the property that the fire has devoured was a trust of allah and he has taken it back so, I shall go on thanking him. He may give or not, be pleased or displeased. He is the owner of everything and may give to whosoever he like of the kingdom and honor.”
Then sayyidina ayyub (…………..) fell into prostration and the devil returned disgraced.
The devil then pleaded to allah that he should take away sayyidina ayyub’s (…………………) sons, saying that if that is done, he would become restless and complain. Allah assured the devil that sayyidina ayyub (……………) would newer falter even after that so, the devil got his hosts to demolish sayyidina ayyub’s (………………….) house on his family so that all of them died, crushed under the debris again he visited sayyidina ayyub (………….) this time as a sympathizer he said, “your sons have said , but do you not realize that allah has no need for your remembrance?he has never bothered to give you your roghts. “ sayyidina ayyub (………………..) wept and said to him “he had given and he took them away I will go on thanking him whether he gives or not …..” and he spooke as before and prostrated the devil retreated depressed he then pleaded with allah that he should be allowed to afflict sayyidina ayyub’s (……………..) health saying, “he will give up your worship because of his illness.”
Allah decided to make an example of sayyidina ayyub (……………………) faith and patience, so he allowed the devil to hurt sayyidina ayyub’s (…………….) boday. He forbade him his soul and tongue which had preserved the savors of faith. So, the devil and his team played havoc with sayyidina ayyub’s (……………..) health however, with every worsening of his health, there was a like strengthening in his faith, conviction and patience. He remained ill for a long time and become a skeleton all his friends and companions deserted him. He only had his persevering, grateful wife with him she served him and looked after him he continued to be grateful to Allah and never inclined to disobedience or in gratitude the devil was at a loose how to nab sayyidina ayyub(……………) one of the devil’s minions remained him how he had tempted sayyidina aadam (………….) out of paradise by using a woman indeed, the devil had never thought of sayyidina ayyub’s (………………..) wife. He lost no time and came to her he prompted her to cast a look at sayyidina ayyub (…………………)? He is not not nether dead nor alive indeed the devil achieved success with her she felt depressed and wept before sayyidina ayyub (……………..)And reminded him of their past, their property, children and friends and his youth where are they? How long will Allah punish you?
Sayyidina ayyub (……………..) said to her, “the devil has tempted you I think you do not weep because of the things you remember, but you are under a trial.” She asked, “have you not prayed to Allah to remove the affliction and grief?” he asked her, “how long had we lived in happiness and abundance?” she said, “eighty years. “He asked, “And how many years in distress?” she said, “seven years.” He said, “I feel ashamed to pray to Allah to remove the affliction when I see the years spent in blessing. But, your faith is weakening. So, I swear that when I regain health, I shall whip you and, as of today, it is forbidden to me to eat or drink whatever you give me. Keep yourself away from me till allah decides our case.”
When he was alone and he was in greater pain, he turned to allah and prayed:
(…………………………………………………….)
“Surely affliction has touched me and you are the most merciful of those who show mercy.” (surah al-anbiya, verse 83)
Allah accepted his supplication and commanded him to strike the ground so that a spring of water would flow. He was instructed to drink the water and have a bath with it and his illness and weakness would disappear.
His wife was a good natured, devoted woman. She came back to nurses him. She was surprised to find her husband regain his youth and beauty. She was happy and they embraced one another. She thanked allah and made a prostration of gratitude to him. Her husband had never neglected to remember allah, not even for a moment. He was patient throughout his trial.
